An unlocked meter box allows others to:

 

• Turn off the power – If no one comes out to investigate it’s a good sign that the house is empty.
• Turn off the power – hide near the box and “bop the home owner over the head” when they go out to investigate
• Turn off the power – and when someone comes to the side of the house to investigate – walk straight into the house through the unlocked front door.
• Turn off the power –  while you are on holidays – how much food is in the fridge and freezer?
